Lydia Hushaby, don't you cry, for life's a little lullaby. The bird's magical cry, the land's gentle tune, all tucked beneath the light of the moon. Life's a song, for things will always go on, and the wait for love isn't long. Every day comes new bliss, for even when you attempt affection and miss, one day you'll receive your true love's first kiss. Repeatedly, this tune rolled through the mind of the young mare whom wandered recklessly through this unfamiliar terrain. Occasionally, her lips would move unconsciously with the tune, and once or twice, a few words were vocalized. The repetition of the tune created a sense of tranquility, calmness and familiarity, so that her heart wouldn't begin to pump and her mind race with the thought of being stranded. Being labeled as a dreamer, the fae possesses the remarkable ability of imagination. Even in poor situations, she manages to see the good, which is why as she walked through the lands of Kreios, she was imagining the fantastical meeting that could occur here in these lands between her and her prince.
Curiosity shone in the young Friesian's brown and black eyes. Their hue was prone to be possessed by those with a dark heart, yet for once, they were found within the sockets of an innocent little femmora, softening those that had a tendency to hardness and creating the gentle lull of kindness. Despite the fact that no expression was held anywhere else in the tension of her face, the softness of her eyes created the gentle feel overall. Her body moved with a liquid tenderness, hindquarters swaying as they propelled the seal bay maiden forward. The soothing sound of her hooves palpating the ground added rhythm to her occasional whispered words. The caressing melody of tropical birds further fit in with her tune, so much so that she was adapting it to the particulars of their calls. Her tail, free of knots, moved along with her hips in a rather hypnotic way. A single thin braid ran down the center of the black locks, white ribbon interlaced with the shimmering strands. The thickness of the black locks compressed at the end, causing the locks to billow just above it. Here, at the end of her train, the six ribbons met up to constitute an elaborate bow combining braid, ribbon and locks alike. Within her curled mane was a single braid near her cheekbone with a single white ribbon braided in, adding brightness to the otherwise dark and earthy tones of her body.
As black feathered appendages pushed the fae deeper into unknown territory, silver bangles chimed in their own metallic tune. The result was a song like no other, composed of bird, equine and elemental metal, directed by no one. Despite this tranquil carol and perfect fantasy, the occasional fearful thought would slip across the celibate's mind. The idea that she wouldn't be found played a consistent scene within her mind, thought the concept of prince charming being less than what she expected him to be never occurred. Companion-less for the time being within the heart of Bird's Paradise, the flicka suddenly halted. Her eyes strayed up to the birds of glorious blues, reds, yellows and oranges, a smile crossing her petite muzzle. Hello there, what might your names be? The words crossed her shy lips. In moments, the answers of all the birds filled the air in unison. I'm sorry... I couldn't catch that... Her voice was quiet and bashful, dished skull being drawn toward her chest as a hoof scuffed the ground while she came up with her next question. Where am I? The thought to ask finally occurred to her, but before the birds could answer, the shuffling of foliage sounded behind the vixen, detracting the attention of the birds as they turned their minuscule heads to observe the entrance of another creature in silence.

Kreios had found himself a spot that he was truly enjoying. A large monument of stones and boulders had somehow erected themselves, as if in his honor, in a great pier that pointed upwards to the sky, saluting it in all of its gorgeous sapphire glory. He had had nothing to do with its creation; it had been there long before he had, but it was certainly a thing of majesty and perfection. Its point, a good five feet wide and twenty feet from its base at the circular mount of stones and boulders to its tip, where Kreios liked to stand and survery his lands. It wasn't like he couldn't just take a little jaunt up in the sky, but Kreios liked the feeling of power, the rush he got when standing above his lands. Not powerhungry, nor ambitious, because he had what he wanted. Now what he wanted to do was fill his lands with mares. The tall stallion flicked his long ashen banner and lifted his cranium, orbs rising to the aquamarine sky and its reaches to contemplate it. He loved to fly and was considering taking a quick flight to better observe his newly-acclaimed lands and make sure there were no intruders, no one who dared stray onto his precious realm, but Kreios decided to stay put for now.
He had already taken a run through the jungle forest, learning the crevices and depths of his land as well as he could. He had already beaten a path through that led to his lair, so that if anyone accidentally wandered in, they could just walk through to his palace and he would be able to greet them properly, not just stumbling upon them like he didn't know what he was doing. Kreios liked to set everything up so that he was in control. Call him a control freak, he thought of it as careful. Kreios wanted Bird's Paradise to be a paradise for other horses as well. He wanted to make it the perfect place, an open sanctuary for anyone who needed it. He also particularly wanted a few mares to fill it and their children to canter and play among the brightly blooming flowers and under the flight of the colorful birds as well. He had walked past several peacocks and had seen a number of birds of paradise too. They only served to brighten his day with their brilliant colors and fantastic dances. He'd watched them with curiosity and noted that they were harmless. They were not aggressive and made his jungle quite safe for growing foals. He was relieved upon this discovery. Kreios wanted Bird's Paradise to be a safe haven. After all, without safety, there wasn't much point to making it home for pregnant mares and foals.
The great stallion tipped his head carefully, orbs widening as he waited for his soul partner to return to him. The pair were very close, even for companions, who were supposed to be close. They had achieved a new sort of bond that Kreios found to be rare in most other cases. He could feel when she was in distress and she when he was. They were aware of each other's extreme emotions and while they couldn't communicate over large distances, Hayyel and Kreios knew when their other half was in pain, distress, etc. and could come to their aide. Kreios knew this was rare and felt quite blessed whenever she proved her worth to him, which was often. He would never tell this to her, but he was very fond of her and wouldn't have any other companion over her. On the other hoof, the stallion had no idea where his beloved companion was right now and shrugged his muscular shoulders, turning his attention to the cave he was exploring and excavating, trying to make it into a good shelter should there be the danger of a storm. He wanted a good place to stay that didn't involve the dangers of slippery mud or clingy wet leaves, the downfalls to living in a wet jungle. Plus, this cave was sure to stay warm during a storm, if he could ensure that the entrance could be blocked somehow. Kreios examined his problem and shook his cranium, orbs turning to search for any rocks he could use to narrow the wide entrance a little.
Down in the jungle, however, his absent companion was taking the time to hunt. Hayyel was a powerful hunter and she had her sharp eyes set on her prey. She was the ultimate predator here. All of the birds feared her and her sharp talons, her razor beak. She was too fast for them, her wings could bring her in at speeds that none of those overly-stuffed pretty birds could possibly match. They were weighed down by all their handsome plummage while she was pure muscle. There wasn't a thing on her that didn't help her in the hunt. Hayyel was pure power. She dove, wings drawing in to help increase her momentum in her plummet. Then, at the moment of attack, her wings shot open, catching her just as she plowed into her prey, talons fastening and beak lashing out, laying into her catch with all of her might until the beautiful bird of paradise gave out beneath her wicked claws. Hayyel whistled in delight and lifted her beak from her prey, only to catch sight of a mare who had just been admiring the birds. Now they had all been spooked and she held one of the pretties in her talons. Hayyel tipped her feathered head and whistled again, amused, before winging off to tell Kreios. He would be sure to want to know about this youngling wandering through his forest. After all, this place was their's now. Hayyel's ringing cry echoed through the jungle's depths as she took off, powerful wings beating the air as she swung over the mare's head and through the air toward Kreios and his little mountain.
Kreios was just in the midst of pushing a boulder toward the entrance, so as to make a shield against the elements, when Hayyel's hunting cry rang out like a battle cry, startling many birds into flight. These birds had made this place their home, but they now knew to fear the mighty hunter who had moved in amongst their midst. He watched their silent frenzy in amusement, knowing that Hayyel enjoyed how much she frightened the "useless royals". Of course she'd scare off all the scenery, he thought, shaking his cranium and turning toward the sound, waiting. He didn't have to wait long. Hayyel emerged from the trees, her strong wings propelling her at a decent pace toward him, the bird of paradise hanging limply from her talons, its blue and black feathers stained with bright crimson, glittering drops hanging and falling like precious gems toward the ground. She experienced a rough landing and nearly fell over herself trying to untangle her claws from the soft flesh of her meal before she looked at him and spoke. "There's a youngling, a mare wandering around through your woods." Kreios perked up immediately, lips pulling into a delighted grin. "Is that so? Where is she?" Hayyel waited long enough to tell him before she dug into her meal, "A few yards into the jungle down the beaten path. She saw me catch my kill, so she's probably a little disturbed." Kreios groaned, ignoring her amusement as he made his way down the mount of rocks. "That so figures. What if you scared her off?" Hayyel whistled sharply, not even looking back at him. She was very unconcerned with his social problems. She was feeding and she was happy.
Kreios trotted down the path, his hooves pressing into the soft ground as he hurried along, eager to catch sight of this mare and potential friend or herdmate before she moved on. He was desperately hoping that Hayyel hadn't scared her off with her vicious behavior, the harpy eagle was very sparing of anyone's feelings, let alone a mare she'd never met before. Hayyel wasn't much concerned for anyone except herself and Kreios, something that both bothered and pleased the stallion. It was good and reassuring to have such a loyal friend, but it was also aggrivating to know that she was not have as kind to others and their feelings, like Kreios was. The handsome bay stallion picked up the pace when he caught her scent and then abruptly slowed down. He had no desire to come in rushing at her when she'd just watched one of those pretty, darling little birdies get caught and killed. It had probably been a traumatic experience. Well, then, I hope I can provide a shoulder for her to cry on, if necessary, of course. Kreios came upon her slowly, so that she'd know he was there. He was always very considerate of a mare's comfort. He was also very pleased when he laid his dark orbs on her. She was a thing of beauty, a gem, a regular and so delicate diamond in the rough. Kreios came to a halt before her and bowed elegantly, his orbs twinkling with good humor. "Morning, m'lady. I hope you haven't been too disturbed here, I'm only just settling in and it took me a moment to find you." He looked up to see that the birds had resettled themselves and had to smile. "I see everything's.. somewhat in order." Kreios decided to ignore the bits of splattered red on the dense forest floor.
